Meet doctors with advanced pediatric chiropractic training
Dr. Kyle Heimer and Dr. Molly Schulting have earned the CACCP credential through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association's pediatric education program. That additional training informs how they discuss age-appropriate assessments, precautions and care options with parents.

What happens at an infant chiropractic consultation?
We listen first
We discuss your baby's health history, your questions and relevant information from your pediatrician or other clinicians.
We assess appropriateness
We explain what a chiropractic evaluation could involve, review precautions and determine whether a referral is more appropriate.
We explain options
Any proposed care, its limitations, possible risks and alternatives are discussed with you before a decision. Treatment is not automatic.
Infant care is different from adult care
Newborns are not small adults. Their anatomy and clinical needs require particular caution. We discuss age-appropriate examination and technique selection individually, and do not assume an infant needs a spinal adjustment simply because a parent schedules an appointment.
There is limited high-quality evidence supporting spinal manipulation in infants, and it has not been established as a treatment for colic, feeding problems, ear infections or other non-musculoskeletal conditions. Symptoms such as poor feeding, fever, lethargy, breathing difficulties or signs of illness should be assessed promptly by an appropriate medical professional.
We do not present routine spinal X-rays as part of an infant visit. Imaging decisions, if any, require a specific clinical indication and consideration of safer alternatives.
Questions parents often ask
How soon after birth can my baby have a consultation?
Parents may contact us to discuss their questions at any age. Whether a chiropractic examination is appropriate depends on your baby's individual history and clinical needs. Medical concerns should be evaluated by a pediatrician.
Does my newborn need a chiropractic adjustment?
Not necessarily. A consultation does not mean treatment is needed or recommended. We discuss findings, the limits of available evidence, risks, alternatives and referrals as appropriate.
Can chiropractic care treat colic, reflux or feeding difficulties?
There is insufficient reliable evidence to recommend infant spinal manipulation as a treatment for these conditions. Your pediatrician is the best starting point for persistent crying, reflux, feeding or growth concerns.
Will my baby need X-rays?
Routine X-rays are not part of a standard infant chiropractic consultation. Imaging, when clinically necessary, should be justified and coordinated with appropriate medical providers.
Do you see older children too?
Yes. Foundation Family Chiropractic also welcomes families seeking information about care for toddlers, school-age children and teens. Explore our full pediatric chiropractic page.
