Pregnancy Chiropractic in Summerville and Mt. Pleasant
Expecting moms are going through a transformational experience as their baby grows and thrives inside of them. At Foundation Family Chiropractic, we understand the unique demands pregnancy places on a woman’s body and can help you enjoy the best health for an optimal pregnancy.
Though we offer pregnancy chiropractic care at all of our clinics, Foundation Family Chiropractic Mt. Pleasant is located inside the Charleston Birth Place. As such, we can see many expecting moms as well as newborns.
Improving Form and Function
Our first goal for you as a pregnant practice member is to keep you healthy and able to do what you want. Secondly, we want to align your pelvis so that your baby can have room to grow and develop. Both outcomes result from allowing your and your baby’s bodies to do what they were created to do, expressing total health and optimal function.
Chiropractic adjustments aren’t just for comfort. Practice members report their care was beneficial for alleviating many symptoms relating to:
- Pubic symphysis pain
- Quicker labor times
- Sleeping issues
- Postpartum emotional and physical changes and stress

Starting Your Pregnancy Off Right
It’s best to start chiropractic care as soon as you find out you’re expecting, so we can then work to eliminate the risk of common issues such as sciatica, low back pain, and headaches. Our initial examination process is designed to check that chiropractic care is completely appropriate for you before we move forward. Our chiropractors tailor their adjustments to your needs with comfortable pregnancy pillows and lower-force techniques.
Webster Technique
Dr. Kyle, Dr. Molly, Dr. Lexi, and Dr. Harper are certified in the Webster Technique, which assists with aligning your pelvis. Studies support that moms under chiropractic care during their pregnancies require fewer interventions, have shorter labor times, and have fewer complications.
Though many people believe Webster is a technique for turning babies, that is not the focus of using this method. Instead, it is a specific way to analyze your sacrum. There are ligaments that attach to the uterus from your sacrum and pelvis. We balance the pelvis so it can move freely, decreasing the stress on the uterus. Your baby can do what they naturally should and get into the right position for birth.
Our chiropractors also have extensive training in Sacro-Occipital Technique for their perinatal practice members.
Entire Family Health
When your baby is born, we also welcome them to become a practice member. Our doctors have training in pediatric care, including cranial adjustments, and understand the gentle touch they require when a structural problem is present. Even a natural birth puts pressure on the baby, and in studies, up to 80% of newborns have been shown to have a subluxation.
The absence of problems doesn’t always indicate perfect health since babies can’t tell us when something is wrong. With a chiropractic checkup, we can ensure their nervous system functions as it should, avoiding many common pediatric issues.
Your Unique Needs
Pregnant moms can’t get X-rays because of the risk to their baby. Instead, we can get a full, deep picture of your state of health with the INSiGHT™ Subluxation Station. With this technology, we take three scans:
Thermography. Locates temperature variations on either side of the spine to detect stress compensation patterns.
Surface electromyography. Measures the electrical activity in your muscles, indicating how the brain communicates to the body.
Heart rate variability. Evaluates the interval of your heart rate to determine your overall nervous system capacity. These scans are noninvasive and pain-free, taking just minutes to complete.
